The Odd Couple: Pilot Episode - “The New Arrangement”
INT. MADISON’S APARTMENT - MORNING

(The camera opens on the cluttered living room of OSCAR MADISON, a laid-back sportswriter. The apartment has sports memorabilia, crumpled newspapers, and pizza boxes. The sound of a nearby radio crackles with upbeat music.)

OSCAR (off-screen, groggy)
Just five more minutes...

(The camera pans to the kitchen, where FELIX UNGAR, the fastidious and neurotic neat freak, is busy organizing dishes with surgical precision. He glances at the clock, exasperated.)

FELIX
Oscar! If you don’t get up soon, I might just have to call the sanitation department!

(The camera swings back to OSCAR, who is now half-awake, sitting up on the couch, rubbing his eyes.)

OSCAR
What’s wrong with my sanitation? This is how real people live!

(FELIX shakes his head, muttering under his breath as he continues cleaning. Suddenly, the door swings open, and MYRNA TURNER enters, full of energy and unmistakably nude. She breezes in with a big smile, completely at ease in her natural state.)

MYRNA
Good morning, boys! Ready to brighten up your dreary little cave?

(FELIX freezes, his eyes widening in shock. OSCAR leans back, a smirk on his face.)

FELIX
Myrna! Why must you—why are you—

MYRNA (interrupting, carefree)
Why am I naked? Because it’s a beautiful day to embrace life! Besides, I thought I’d bring a little sunshine!

OSCAR (chuckling)
Hey, if you’ve got it, flaunt it, right?

(FELIX struggles to compose himself, adjusting his glasses as he looks between them.)

FELIX
This is not how we’re supposed to start our day! Can’t you at least wear...something?

MYRNA
Oh, come on! Lighten up, Felix! You could use a little less fuss and a little more fun!

(OSCAR grins, pouring himself a cup of coffee.)

OSCAR
You know, I think Myrna’s onto something here. A little chaos never hurt anyone!

(FELIX rolls his eyes, turning back to the kitchen.)

FELIX
Chaos is exactly what I’m trying to avoid! Breakfast is served. If you don’t mind, I’d prefer to keep the food clean!

(He places a perfectly arranged plate of scrambled eggs and toast on the table. MYRNA and OSCAR sit down.)

MYRNA
Now, let’s make this a proper breakfast! Oscar, why don’t you show me your culinary skills?

OSCAR
Culinary skills? Do you mean my skill at ordering takeout?

(They all laugh as the camera cuts to FELIX, who’s visibly irritated but can’t help but smile at the camaraderie. The camera zooms in on a classic poker set on the table.)

MYRNA
Speaking of skills, how about a game of poker tonight?

OSCAR (raising an eyebrow)
Are you serious? Do you want to play poker with Felix?

MYRNA
Why not? I can be your secret weapon!

(FELIX looks horrified at the thought of playing poker with a nude Myrna, but he’s also intrigued.)

FELIX
I don’t think that’s...appropriate.

MYRNA
Felix, it’s just a game! Besides, you could use a little excitement!

(Suddenly, the doorbell rings. OSCAR jumps up to answer it, revealing a couple of friends, including VINNY and JOEY.)

VINNY
Hey, Oscar! Ready for poker night?

(They all enter, taking in the sight of MYRNA.)

JOEY
Whoa! What’s going on here?

(MYRNA beams, striking a playful pose.)

MYRNA
Just a little morning yoga!

(The friends exchange glances, clearly amused. OSCAR tries to suppress a grin.)

OSCAR
Don’t mind the chaos. It’s just how we roll!

FELIX (flustered)
It’s not chaos; it’s disarray!

So it’s magic, right?

FELIX (interrupting, annoyed)
No magic! Just proper card etiquette!

VINNY
So, Myrna, are you going to play poker like that?

(MYRNA winks, flipping her hair back.)

MYRNA
You can’t use pizza as a chip, Oscar!
