complete dream book archive

a while ago I shared pdf back ups of the dreambook site and the your webapps site. The thread is still here, Executionous linked the files in his signature.

But it was missing the stories that were never archived. The last archive had stories from August 2009 and the board went until jan 2014.

Well i realized something obvious which is archive.org had enough snapshots of the front page to cover all the stories that were never added to the archives. Except April to May 2011. No one made a backup then.

Anyway, I took all the text from the archives and front page backups and put them in text files which can be downloaded in the 7zip file in the link below. The files are separated by date (bascially one whole page at a time). its 11 pages of front page copies so its a lot of stories. probably over 1000 given the archieves had 100 stories each. Will probably do the same to the webapps board at some point. Hopefully someone finds this useful

Useful?? It is about as close to discovering a goldmine that I will probably ever get. NICE JOB!


An archive like that would be extremely valuable. There is only one problem. I can't seem to get the link to work. Any suggestions

I have an SQL backup file of Dreambook(I think) that contains postings with dates in 2014-2019. I used this to create a set of HTML files that I have been re-posting to the Archives forum.

If anyone else wants this file (6MB Zipfile), transfers can be arranged.

the dreambook is the one that died in 2014. The "your web apps" board is the one that ran after. I think i have the same database. like 700 separate html files. I found a linux program that automatically grabbed all of them and made them into a big pdf. Its in that thread and execuionous's mega upload.

i want to turn that in a text file too at some point for portability and share here

by the way, i can take this zip and split it into 17 250kb zip part files and upload them here as attachments since they wouldnt break the 256kb file limit. Is that a weird thing to do to circumvent the upload limit in place?

The database I have seems to have 7109 postings. I can try to get a listing of the id,author,date_entered,subject if anyone is interested.

Ah, so does mine. I knew it had a 7. also a folder literally labeled "html dump" so that should be it. going to see if i can get all that in txt. I think I'm going to upload them in 7zip part files directly to board so that as long as this board is here, the files can be downloaded. Maybe I could pm the boad owner to see if he can make an exception for easy accesss to other users? when compressed these zips are only like 3mb

For my reposting, I skip the short postings that are not stories. I worked out some SQL/REXX code to extract the 'author,subject,message' fields into html files.

I've trying to learn to code so something that can grab and mass filter all that text shouldnt be too hard.

Well I was going to add those attachments but 7zip part files are "invalid". Well the annon paste link isnt set to expire. If anyone has issues downloading it, I'd recommend trying with a vpn or a different browser. it worked on all my devices
