Writers, Called Out!

Post by *Lady Lucia* »

Hey, everyone,

While posting it on the main page was tempting, this ultimately felt more like something for the discussion thread. Especially with everything out there right now, I'd hate to bury any recent posts with my own!

This is more of a recently thought of concept of mine, rather than an official challenge, contest, whatever you want to call it. We can iron out details as we go along, and anyone's welcome to contribute any suggestions that may make the idea better. Essentially, this is a thread to request continuations of stories that are currently unfinished. Could be stories that are weeks, months, or even years old, as long as the writer is still active. But not just request--it's a barter system! For example:

SDS, I'd love to see some new 'Stripping the Babysitter chapters. I've always appreciated it, and I want more! For every new part you write, I'll write a new part to one of my existing stories. You can choose which one, or just say 'any of them' and throw me a deadline!

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1046&p=2870

Now, here's where it gets interesting. There are a few options:

1. SDS can respond to me. We have a deal; that's the easiest answer. One part for one part. Or maybe I have to write MY part first, and then I'll get a SDS chapter in exchange.

2. SDS can chain it to someone else. "Okay, I'll add a part, but only if Cicero will continue 'Stripped in the Snow.'" This especially works if the requestor isn't actually a writer, but is throwing out the suggestion hoping to see what it would take for XYZ writer to continue a WIP.

3. Someone else can add on. Nikolai could say "Hey, I like 'Stripped by the Babysitter' too. In addition to LL's offer, I'll post a new part for 'A Lesson in Karma' for every chapter SDS adds."

So let's just try this out and see what happens! I'd rather that we keep all offers either in this thread, or in a new thread that references this system! It'd be more fun to keep the history of each request and subsequent bartering public, rather than private messages making it difficult to keep track. As a notorious writer with unfinished stories, I figured it couldn't hurt to spearhead this project and poke some fun at myself at the same time. And yes, SDS, that example was a REAL offer. I want more of that story, and I'm willing to pay the price. :)

Everyone else, let us know what else you want to see more of, and what you're willing to give/ask for in exchange.

Yours truly,
Lady Lucia

OK, I think I get the idea.

So how about, if Skillbox adds to The Promotion, I'll endeavor to finally come up with a satisfying conclusion to Debbi's Sunbathing Mishap ?

LL ... fine fine you would drop me this just after teasing me with another chapter of the disguise.. I rarely write ENM anymore but I do feel like I need to finish the story...

How about this I will continue and finish the babysitter story chapter for chapter ;) (I've a plan but it might take two or three chapters to finish it) if either of the two below are true.

-> Firstly if the disguise story is going the direction I think it is (with her pretending to be a middle schooler again... im just in love with that concept) and it gets to the juicy chapters not just set up haha :P ill trade chapter for chapter. If your going in a differnt direction though don't change it on my behalf but read my alternative proposal below...

-> OR ill trade C4C for the continued Prefect story as I did love that one too!

Well, as you'll see by my latest post, The Disguise doesn't quite go that direction! Your idea is actually pretty great, as it both extends Ava's existence and shows Will that he has to take what he can get, but I had already drafted pretty far before your lovely suggestion.

However, you've got a deal when it comes to The Prefect!! I'll counter that YOU should write and post a new part first--I've left The Prefect untouched for a year, but Stripping the Babysitter has been unfinished for almost ten. :P

Does March 1st work for a deadline for at least the next part?? Probably better to throw out a date than leave it open ended!

Cheers,
Lady Lucia

Just to be a tease, I'll let you know that I just finished drafting the next part of The Prefect.

March 1st is the deadline! And the moment you post yours, mine will immediately follow. :)
