The Taffy Girl

Chapter 1

Marco made a show of brushing the hair out of his eyes as he rang the customer up. Sometimes a little hint at flirtation encouraged the moms to leave a bigger tip in the jar. Working at Seaside Confectionery was the best job he'd ever had. Not that he was having the time of his life or anything when he was on the clock. But living down at the beach all summer, saving up money for college, and flirting wit his hot coworkers all day was about ideal as work could be. So even when he had to work late on a Friday, or open on a Sunday morning - even when his boss was being annoying or he had to listen to a customer's bitching, he couldn't really complain.

And maybe that was why he got so annoyed when Sandy stomped in at the end of her shift as the taffy girl looking mean as hell. "Oh my god, this job is the worst!," she exclaimed, tossing the sample tray behind the counter. Marco couldn't help himself and let out an exasperated sigh and rolled his eyes. It was never a particularly good idea to get on Sandy's bad side, but to do so when she was pissed was flirting with death. "Do you have a problem with that Marco?" she challenged.

Marco looked up from the table he was cleaning and eyed his coworker. Sandy was a vision of perfection in her skimpy bikini, he let his gaze linger on her long legs and big tits before meeting Sandy's eyes. She was always a looker, but something about how angry she looked was working for Marco. Still, he was annoyed by her comments.

"Yeah, I do actually." Sandy was stunned that he hadn't backed down. "I know you think hanging out in your bathing suit is so hard, but I've been lugging heavy boxes and dealing with Karen's all day - you know, actual work."

At this point, everyone closing up stopped what they were doing to be nosy. Sandy was the queen bee, sometimes even managers would let her do what she wanted rather than deal with her wrath.

"You have no idea," Sandy countered. "Do you know how many sexist pigs I had to fend off in just the last hour? Everyone here has had to pretend to give a shit when a Karen complains about an order, but I've never seen you volunteer to be the slab of meat out front."

And this is the moment Marco would soon come to regret. The moment of no return, when this conversation went from a spat to a prologue to his complete and utter public humiliation. "Oh you love it," he said. "The way you strut those things in the air," here he gestured vaguely at her breasts.

For a moment silence. Then softly, coldly - which was all the more terrifying considering how red hot her anger burned moments ago - Sandy responded. "You wouldn't last an hour."

"Wanna bet?" Marco challenged - and with that his fate was sealed.

Intriguing start to a story. I assume he'll have to change into something more revealing to be out front.

Marco is described first ringing up a customer at the register, then he cleans a table. How is he not out front?
Or is being out front being an "advertiser" giving out samples to people on the beach?
