They made sure to keep anyone in the company who had the skill to uncover what they had been up to out of any position where they had the power to do so Linda, Mary, Katie and Jodie were prime examples of the people Robert and Leslie did not want to be in power positions they knew how smart the four women were and if they got into a position of control with access to high level company financial they could possibly figure out what the two of them had been doing and made a point to bury them in middle of the road dead in positions.
The four women were frustrated with their role in the company but had no idea that they were being kept down in the company so they might not find things those running things didn't want them finding and it was working for Robert and Leslie until one day the supervisor of the four gave Katie access to information she would have not normally had to do some financial audits because they were shorthanded there was a lot of stuff to go through and she asked if it would be alright if Linda, Mary and Jodie helped her with it she was told if it would speed things up go ahead.

As the four started their work at first, they found nothing unusual but as they continued to look at things they began to find small inconsistencies they were so minor most people wouldn't have noticed them much less looked into them more, but these women were not most people and continued to dig after two to three days it became clear to the women that there was money being stolen from the company they considered informing their supervisor but decided to hold off until they could find out how much had been taken and who was doing it.
As they continued there digging a shocked Mary began finding hidden accounts that money was being funneled into and that it had been going on for years and there were millions of dollars in these accounts it was pretty clear that there were only a few people who had the access and control to have been doing this for as long as it had been going on or more accurately two people it took a few more days but they found all the proof they would need to prove Robert and Leslie had been the ones doing this and why they had been held down.
