Somewhat topical story idea

I saw some art recently that triggered a story idea for me and thought I'd share it.
Please note that normally I don't like injecting politics into these things, but in this case it acts as the starting point. And I strongly I oppose the rolling back of LGBTQ+ protections, we should be doing more to protect the most vulnerable of our society and be mindful of our differences! But I won't let that get in the way of an ENx/OON story...
Based on recent proclamations from the President, a school board in a quasi-rural area announces a new policy that students should be able to trust that their classmates are who and what they say they are -- particularly when it comes to whether a student is a boy or a girl.
The initial proposal would have students file through a line in the locker room to a PE teacher who would perform a genital check and note their school file. This was rejected, however, because it meant a boy might spend time in the girls' lockers prior to discovery and also that the students themselves ought to know the truth about their peers.
After arguing that the public's right to know outweighed any right to privacy, the board decreed that during each class's homeroom period, each student would be called to stand at the front of the class and state their name, birthday, and gender. Then, as directed by the homeroom teacher, a classmate would lift up or pull down clothing as needed to reveal the student's genitals to the group. Members of the cohort would be allowed to come to the front of the room to look and make comments or ask questions while retaining a "respectful" distance.
The student would remain exposed until the teacher believed all curiosity was satisfied, at which point the designated classmate would return the student's clothes to the proper configuration and they went back to their desk. The teacher would note the student's file with observed gender and reaction to the event (did stated gender match observed? did they protest, blush, cry, become aroused? presence of body hair/evidence of shaving, bra and type of underwear, cut/uncut, presence of tampon string, etc), and any other observations made by the class about the student's body.
Once completed with the existing student body, new students transferring into the school would go through this procedure on their first day as part of their introduction to the class. And naturally a copy of these notes would be mailed home to the student's parents.
