Ultrasound

Many years ago, I discovered what turned out to be small, benign cysts in my scrotum. I was sent for an ultrasound and the tech was a young woman. One of the cysts was on a testicle and the other two were along the shaft of my penis in my scrotum. I was told to take off my pants and underpants and put on a gown and lay back on the table. The tech, a young woman, came in and instructed me how to arrange a couple of towels - one under my testicles and the other over my penis so just my testicles were visible. The tech actually turned around while I did this. She then started the exam, which can be kind of tricky since testicles don’t really “stay put.” She finally got a good view of the cyst on my testicle. She then started looking for the other ones (it was indicated on the order she had that there were three). She moved the wand around and couldn’t find them and I explained where they were and she wouldn’t find them with the towels there. She asked if I would be OK with removing the towels and I said there wasn’t much choice as she couldn’t do the exam with them there. So, she took the towels away and left me completely exposed. She resumed trying to find the cysts but still had trouble since everything moves around too easily. I actually had to show her where the cysts were. She found them but couldn’t get a good picture because everything was moving around. She asked a couple of times “I’m not hurting you, am I?” After trying for a couple more minutes, she got kind of frustrated and asked if it would be OK if she had the radiologist come in. I said OK. Well, the radiologist was a woman. The tech explained the situation and the radiologist asked me to show her where the other cysts were. I did so and she felt around to find them. The radiologist then held things in place by putting a finger along either side of my penis and holding it still. The tech was finally able to get a good picture. The radiologist left and the tech handed me some tissues to clean up the gel. Between the tech and the radiologist rooting around down there I had loads of the gel all over. She apologized for the procedure being so tricky and that she needed the radiologist to help. I told her it was OK, not her fault. I thought I had gotten all of the gel and stood up to get dressed and realized I still had some and asked her for more tissues. She handed me some and I had to really get in the “crevices” to get all the gel out - all while the tech was sitting there finishing up what she had to do. I finally got all of it and got dressed, thanked the tech and left.
