Personally I love it, think the two are very closely linked. How do others feel about spankings in their stories?

I like spanking in stories (have written that many times), as long at the punishments are not excessive.

What would you call excessive? What limits do you set?

Anything that causes damage that would require any level of medical care, even if just from a home first aid kit. Welts and blisters forming is
going too far.

The farthest I went in the area of physical punishment (mainly spanking) is in an ENM story I did at the beginning of this year.

Eric, the one being punished, is 16 years old. But there are some other characters in the story who are younger.
Expect some stretching of the boundaries of believability.

I am also a fan of females being spanked especially if the female is normally in a role of authority like babysitter, mother, teacher, principal, athletic coach, police officer, etc.

Role reversal like that isn't my thing, but I understand it

Definitely not my kink. (When I was at school, corporal punishment for pupils was still a thing. Usually on the open hand with a cane, didn't happen to me often, but I hate that sort of thing.)

Spanking certainly is ENx adjacent with or without a nudity/stripping component given it's one of the more powerful drivers of embarrassment out there.

There's also lots of opportunity for exploration, as the recipient could be the original subject of the ENx treatment (or an undeserved follow-on if someone has misunderstood the situation and chooses to punish the subject unfairly), or it could be applied as punishment to the perpetrator(s).

That being said, I wouldn't want it to be thought of as a required element, just as occasional seasoning (or if that's your particular thing).

For me, the excitement comes from exposure and vulnerability, not pain or actual damage. So I restrict it to bare bottom, hand spanking only. It's even more exciting if there are witnesses...
