Which direction should Company Retreat go? Should Sally defy her mother? Or cooperate?

That’s kind of a weird comment to make when I clearly want people to determine the direction.

I like the idea of Sally outting her mother and the other adults punishing her.

I can't think of much of a reason why Sally would continue to go along with her mother's efforts after learning that it was all a lie. That being said, the story would definitely work far better if Sally goes with it, since everything would crash off the rails if she outed her mother. She's going to need some serious incentive, though.
