Spinoff Contest

So a recent development on this board has inspired me to launch my own story contest for the first time in years. A conversation in the thread for Nikolai's A Lesson in Karma led to Juncker creating an ENM spinoff episode.

This entire concept intrigues me. What other possibilities are there with authors writing their own versions of stories using the characters and story universes of other authors? There are so many legendary series and one-offs across the 15ish year history of the ENF boards to choose from, not to mention several great stories coming out in recent times. Some legendary stories like SDS's I'm Not a Little Girl, CaughtofLore's Compromising Situation, Ribeye's Thornwood series, and my own Playville series have all gone many years without updates. What kind of mayhem could ensue if people wrote fanfic endings to them? There is even the possibility for someone to completely re-write a classic short story in their own style as an alternate universe version. I got to thinking that I wanted to see what all kind of spinoffs the many talented authors here could pull off.

So that's the contest. It's a spinoff contest! Take some existing story from another author and either:
A) Add a new chapter/ending
B) Add a side chapter different from the original (such as switching from ENF to ENM)
C) Make an alternate universe re-write of a classic short.
D) Use an established character (either victim or stripper) as a crossover into your own existing story universe.
E) Pull some other shenanigans. I love shenanigans. I literally own a shenanigans T-shirt.

Put "Spinoff" in the title to identify your entry, as well as crediting the author and story that you are borrowing from. If possible you should also link to the original, unless you can't find it anywhere.

I consider Juncker's ENM side story to already be entered as the first entry. I am thinking of making my own spinoff as well just for the hell of it should I have the time and a properly good idea. Mine will almost certainly be a remake of a decade-old classic, I'd just need to pick one and decide how to make it better.

I'll run the contest for all of April alongside the April Fools contest. Technically you could have one story qualify for both contests if you wanted. The winner gets to PM me a story prompt/outline for me to write up for them, ENF, ENM, or mixed, including picking character names and a specific exposure type should you have an image in mind.

Excellent idea ( despite getting into some trouble myself initially when writing a completion of a story by SDS ;) )

Since SDS does not mind, I am giving some thought to a talent contest run by a well known bully !

Also, I'd be delighted if anyone wanted to write a spinoff with my Debbi character from the sunbathing mishap and elsewhere.

Yeah, it's probably always a good idea to check with an author before tampering or adding to an original story. Some authors won't mind at all while others will be very protective of their work and won't take kindly to others changing their stories. I have found it is much like picking apples from a neighbor's loaded apple tree. It foster's goodwill to always ask first than harbor ill-will by just helping yourself which may been seen by some as stealing. Common courtesy does seem to be disappearing in our world today for some reason. ;)

Generally I consider it ok in almost all instances to reference or make fan fiction of something, be it here or elsewhere. The key is to always credit the original work.

The bad side is stealing I've had people try to just straight-up steal my More and More story on several occasions and repost it with their name. The worst part is that most of them copied it from Ddandemann's janky archive system that couldn't do paragraphs right, so the repost is just a block of text. They can't even steal from me right.

Very interesting, ill try to pick something really good deserving of more content,(if I get the time to work on this one) I love the idea! Credit original authors but there's so many great stories with retired authors, I wouldn't fret on getting permission unless its an active story, that being said, any and all of my work is on the table, (even an enf Lesson in Karma spinoff for sake of the contest, I'm way more interested to see what someone could do with my work than worried about someone using it or holding onto it as my own)

Just remember a reminder to everyone to be friendly, if someone chooses a story and butchers it or is nothing like the original don't be toxic, all of these are fan fics after all and just because a story is chosen doesn't mean its necessarily expanding on or tarnishing the reputation of the original.

Would love to see more spin offs of my stories or classic stories that are left in a state of abandonment/never got a sequel/never got a conclusion/ was just amazing and deserves more..

Who dares make an attempt at a new Greenview high? Amy and Ash? Pushed out? I personally desperately want to see a follow up to this story/may attempt so as it was a total standalone(maybe even real?) Story. https://www.literotica.com/s/regretful-revenge(couldn't find link to repost here) by AngelicaRyan

There was another I can't find anywhere called "Bare in the Bleachers" another fantastic one off that was the authors only contribution to this forum and they remained anon. There's so many really really great stories and this contest is exciting to say the least, I hope we see lots of entries and I will attempt to put my own out as well.

All of my work is free game! Be kind to it lol.

Well, I’m flattered that I’ve been able to kickstart a competition. Candace Plays Hardball will likely be completed by the time of judging since I know roughly where I want things to go, so hopefully it lives up to the interest that sparked this competition.

I hold a different viewpoint in that I am old school and, unlike the Chinese, I respect intellectual property rights. I like the idea of this contest but believe the original author should be contacted for permission - or at least make a good faith effort to do so. given this site and it’s limited number of authors it doesn’t seem to be an impossible task to make an effort.

I also like the authors that have made a blanket statement giving permission in advance to use their work tor this contest. Kudos to them as it makes things easier for everybody.

As for me, I prefer to be contacted in advance before using any of my works either posted on this site or others. Thanks in advance for respecting my wishes.

Good luck with this contest.

I mostly just meant if it was from quiet awhile ago on this board or the ones before it and someone who isn't active to make contact, a good faith effort could be made atleast, mostly talking about one offs/long gone writers valid point, but also you make the effort to copyright your intellectual property and alot of people just throw it to the wind and then stop writing or it was a one time thing, i just didn't want people to hold themselves back on great stories because of not being able to obtain permission, honoring that it was made in their name and that it is nothing more than a fans interpretation is fair game imo, fanfiction isn't copyright infringement, in the same sense that putting out Harry Potter alternate endings and fan interpretations wouldn't be stealing from jk Rowling, but blatantly stealing or claiming it as your own/not giving credit(so important) and stuff is definitely not cool. And copyrighted works in our sites regard should be off limits without express permission, I understand completely and didn't mean it as a blanket okay for anyone to jank anyone's works, just want to see some interesting stuff in this contest is all
