Wow, this was a great comeback to the series. I truly believe this is one of the best stories on this site.

You did an amazing job describing Brooke/Honey’s thoughts. I absolutely fell in love with the poor girl lol; she’s so submissive, kind of sweet, and incredibly naive (if not outright dumb). I love how she’s willing to do anything, no matter how compromising or humiliating it may be for her. Her family and friends are literally torturing her, and she just goes along with it.

To be honest, I was kind of excited to see what her second punishment would be, but I guess there will be time for that later on.

Really looking forward to the next chapter.

I am going to see what thoughts I have about chapter 6 as I read it, since I suspect I will have quite a few thoughts!

Oh my... you know, I *almost* want to feel sympathy and understanding for our slave Honey here... her step mother finding the most undignified possible response to you walking around so massively sexually excited... as if being seen naked, and clearly this sexually worked up by these people wasn't bad enough! I find myself torn between a couple of different reactions. Part of me is nodding sagely, and congratulating her step mother on handling this so very well. After all, as a just enslaved slave, a previously free and privileged woman "of means", her new owners need to get to work immediately breaking her of her old habits and beliefs, and getting her used to and adjusted to her new "permanent" lot in life, and new status as the lowest of the low... and look at how ready and willing not only her class mates, but also the school principle and his wife are to help with this re-training! Yet again we are reminded of the frankly massive and wide ranging level of community support for this project, and the very ready acceptance of historically accurate slavery in modern day society. It does raise some interesting points about how much of this acceptance is based on a romantic idea of slavery, and how much is encouraged by "Honey" walking around, looking to be on the cusp of an orgasm on a regular basis... would there be more sympathy and consideration if she came across as clearly suffering, with no positive aspects to the experience?

The other major reaction is to simply delight in how well her step mother is using this opportunity to punish this "interloper" in her family. We have seen plenty of evidence of a cruel streak a mile wide in both her step mother and step sister, so this is hardly a surprise. What is more interesting is how ready and eager so many others are to pile on the cruelty as well!

Now this is fascinating, yes, the money is a massive motivating factor, but its not that that I am focusing on... thinking back to just after the role of Honey was selected, the teacher was full of wicked delight, and made it quite clear that there was no need to honey coat the new reality and role that was being taken on... that very strongly suggested, if not outright stated, that Honey has no option to simply quit and walk away from this contract. We have already seen that the local law is fully onboard with her treatment, and the contract did seem to require rather extensive signing and witnessing... we haven't been told clearly what, if any, end point conditions exist here, but it seem very clear that simply quitting and walking away really isn't one of them!!! Apparently it really is important to read things before you sign them... Also, in other news, water is wet

The table setting, I am continuing to enjoy the clear and major efforts at making the entire environment as historically accurate as possible, and look forward to seeing more of this, and how it interacts with going to school, and the wider community. Again, just marvelling at the massive amount of work required in this project, and that's before considering all of the research and time to plan this out!

Everyone talking about something they don't want you to know... we have been told more than once that "surprises" are coming your way, nasty surprises, and its important you don't know in advance about them, since they want your reactions to be genuine, so yep, good guess that this isn't a good sign!

Punishment for getting it wrong first, explanations later, maybe. You know, its almost as if this entire thing is designed to be as unfair as possible to the slaves...

Well, that's not ominous at all... one more mistake and she will be punished. It begs the question was the earlier spanking considered punishment, or simply a bit of fun for the guests?

I wonder, I find myself assuming the guests were specifically selected, or at least encouraged, to work to humiliate Honey as much as possible. They lack the experience her step mother and step sister are showing, but are trying hard all the same.

And the chamber pot appears... interesting to note that Ellen was taught what was required of her, while again 'Honey' was kept in the dark as much as possible. Not that it was that hard, without her really showing all that much interest in the project, until she was offered a pile of money to take part.

I will admit I didn't see that coming, but I think it answers an earlier question, the guests were specifically selected for their eagerness to really humiliate, punish and miss-treat 'Honey', who still seems to be in complete denial about what her time as a fancy slave is going to mean!

The teaser at the end is reassuring, since it shows the plot outline is still on track, thankfully.

This is another wonderfully told part of this story, full of vivid imagery, strong emotions, and delightful and interesting historical details. It does a very good job of showing this both as a legitimate study, and also as a clear exercise in the abuse of power, and almost "ritualised" abuse and humiliation of slaves. Then again, if my vague historical knowledge is accurate the slaves outnumbered the slave owners often, so the slaves very much need to be kept beaten down, abused, humiliated, and generally "in their place" as the lowest of the low. Anything else is just courting disaster, but also fits with the general social constructs at work around slavery.

I am really looking forward to what happens when her father returns and is present in the house as she keeps on being used as a slave. Is he going to simply accept all of this? Turn a blind eye? Embrace it since it is all for his new family, and Honey is clearly enjoying herself? But so many more moments to look forward to before we get there. Plus, a random thought, remembering the three types of slave she was going to be trained as, will she be moved out of the house, and thus out of sight, just before her father returns, minimising the risks that he will somehow interfere with all that is happening, and the extreme, deliberate and harsh treatment of his daughter the slave?

Thank you for your in-depth observations in your post. I enjoyed reading them very much. I must say some are intriguing and some are spot on. The story has been and is mainly about a young girl being part of a study about chattel slavery in the mid 1800’s America and an attempt to recreate similar conditions that are historically accurate in 1845 only observed in today’s time. Brooke is the integral part of this study by sharing her genuine experiences. I don’t wish to tell you what happens as Brooke makes this journey, but rest assured a ton of detailed research has been made to add as much genuine history that slaves of the time endured and the techniques successful slave owners employed to “break the will” of their chattel slaves.

Some things in this story in future chapters may seem impossible or out of the realm of possibility. This story is NOT politically acceptable in our woke climate in which much of history has been edited, deleted, or are deemed inappropriate to discuss as if it never happened. I can assure you some of the things happen in this story are indeed historically accurate and, except for the characters themselves which are fiction, these things can be documented. I will at the end of this long story, provide some of the references that I painstakingly researched in composing this story for those interested in learning more.

Cat93822, the things you have observed in your comment above as applied to “Honey” have not only been documented but have been shown in several legitimate psychological studies regarding the abuse of power that runs away from expected norms. There are many documented studies over the last 200 years regarding human conduct and power. One such study is the Sanford Prison Experiment conducted in August 1971. I have provided the highlights of what happened below.

I supply this summary NOT because this is what happens to Honey, but to offer legitimacy to some of the things that are found in my story and to those who will say something like that would never happen in real life - that these things are too unrealistic.

The Stanford Prison Experiment, a famous psychology study, simulated a prison environment to examine the effects of situational variables on participants' behavior, revealing how roles and power dynamics can lead to dehumanization and abuse.

This goes to the heart of why I am enjoying this story SO very much! There is so much depth of logic, emotion, planning and power here!

Stories are normally fantasies, that's fine, but as a result, they often lack internal logic to the actions, sometimes events seem to actively defy any form of internal logic, and this tends to rip me right out of the story and the flow, since I cannot reconcile the events with the situation they are placed into. Here though, without going into massive detail, you have provided a very solid and believable structure for all of this!

Having been letting this rumble around in my head for a few hours, I cannot help wondering how far down this road you could actually go in reality if the people backing it REALLY leaned into claims about "traditional family values", the "proper role of women in the home", "respecting our history", and various other ways of shaping and colouring the events. I recognise this is also just a flight of fancy, but its an interesting thought experiment. Nothing quite like trying to get past some of the sensational headlines in the "news" to the underlying statistics and facts, to discover the often vast disconnect at work.

Still, back to the points here. I have some limited knowledge of the Stanford Prison Experiment, and it really was / is shocking. Worse though, if my memory serves me correctly, it was outside researchers who actually called a stop to events, since the researchers actually running the study got caught up in the gradual changes as the guards really got into their roles, and start to really abuse the prisoners...

There are other studies that have looked at "us vs them". Humans as a species REALLY do seem primed to divide the world into "us" and "them", and to punish and drive off "them".

So here, going back and double checking, we have the school Principle, the local sheriff and both parents of 'Honey' all acting together to say it is right and proper to no longer view or consider her to be a human being, a fellow pupal, or a valued member of society. No, now she, IT, is an OBJECT, a POSSESSION, something to be brought and sold, used and discarded...

For me, one big question is still to what degree her father is really going to be on board with all of this, but at this moment in time, he was there when it started, he signed the LEGALLY BINDING paperwork to set this in motion, and then simply disappeared. His last words, and his message while away all say "be a good daughter and play along, do your best". So there is no pressure from him to ease off on any of this.

So look at the people around Honey, the only real source of "historically accurate", and yes, I am deliberately and unfairly putting that into quotes, information about how the slave should be treated are the very people with the MORAL and LEGAL authority to protect and safe guard her... but instead they are doing all they can to dehumanise her, break her down, separate her into a completely different mental category, and reward anyone else who helps to demean and punish her!

Look back to one of the moments that still really stands out in my mind. When she was secured in place and about to be branded, she had a hood placed over her head, to give her at least some privacy before everyone got to take all the pictures and videos they wanted of her naked, bound and BRANDED!!! At first this seems like a real and genuine kindness, actually looking out for her, even though it came with the threat that if she moved the hood would be removed.

But, realistically, was it ever reasonable to expect her not to move when she was branded?! I simply cannot see that. So, an authority figure, one of the people running all of this, shaping how everyone sees the events, and is taught and shown how to treat the slave, the "object", is told that it is Honey's own fault that she doesn't get any protection, any modesty, and that everyone has these incredibly intimate, humiliating and incriminating pictures. In reality she didn't have any say or control, but to the community at large the message is clear, she has brought this upon herself, and isn't owed any regard, modesty, respect or consideration...

Should anyone manage to get past the serious social pressure at work here, and try to have some sympathy and concern for the slave, they almost immediately run straight into the fact that she keeps on having public orgasms in response to her treatment!!! And that is making the significant assumption they can overlook the fact that she volunteered for all of this, when I suspect it is common knowledge that "no one in their right mind" would ever be crazy enough to take on the role of slave voluntarily.

It's all more walls between her and them, more pressure and reasons to look down on her, not give her any consideration or compassion, and to go along with the crowd, and accept the guidance in how to treat the slave...

Yep, a lot to think about and take in here... Really interested to see where this goes from here, and I hope you are finally feeling resolved and happy with your direction. I have quite a few questions I would still like to have answered after all

Yeah, like I think I mentioned before and others have also hinted, there is way more to this that they all knew about, way more before it was mentioned to Brooke/Honey. They all knew about it because it had been hinted that they were all told and trained or given information. It would have helped if she read the whole contract before agreeing to it, because it does seem and sound like this is totally permanent. Brooke is going, her life is gone, and she will never be Brooke again. This is not a small short-term project; it would not be with the way she was branded and shackles were made to be permanent and never to be removed. She will never get the money she was promised; her life is now a slave for the rest of her life. I think to make it sink in, she should see all her stuff be tossed away or given away, and her birth certificate and records burned. Basically, she should be made to see that her old life is gone and she will never get it back.

Also like others have mentioned everyone is on board with this, all her classmates, everyone in the town, and everyone in the school, they all are on board with making Honey a slave, I think she going to end up being the slave to both the town and the school dist before this is over because she never going to go back to being Brooke again, this is her life now, her step-sister is going to go to college and have a normal life where she will move on, but honey will always be a slave for the rest of her life.

I admire your attention to historical accuracy. As someone who has read the "Narrative of a Five Year's Expedition Against the Revolted Negroes of Surinam", I realize there are many things about slavery a casual reader may not be prepared to handle emotionally. Especially so if the treatment of slaves in the Dutch plantation colony of Surinam in Dutch Guiana, described and illustrated in graphic detail in the above work, is any representative of what was happening to slaves in North America. The atrocities committed in Surinam against slaves by the Dutch slave handlers and owners, make me want to compare them to those of Spanish Inquisitors.
