You know, Debbiefan, SDS is very easy to reach via email and often replies quite quickly. As much as I liked your continuation I believe it would have been better to WRITE HIM TO ASK HIS PERMISSION before stealing his intellectual property. (In case anyone is wondering, NO, this continuation of an existing story is not fanfiction as it doesn't create a new story using existing characters but rather interrupts a copyrighted work before the author has a chance to finish it. Just because an author hasn't finished a story doesn't automatically give everyone in cyberspace license to build on his/her hard work without his consent
Many authors would gladly give such permission while others would prefer to decline. The ETHICAL and LEGAL thing to do is ASK - especially when an author is so easy to reach.
Since you are obviously a talented writer, why not try and create a story using your own original ideas? Or better yet, add to existing stories WITH the consent of the original author.
