The “Inspired By” Contest

Post by Humilatron »

It’s time for another contest! I would have waited to announce this one, but I couldn’t get the thought out of my head.

So this time it’s going to be the “Inspired by” Contest.

The Concept:

Write a story inspired by another writer. Could be someone like SDS, Hooked6, Executionus, myself, Lady Lucia, someone not on this board, etc. but it could also be someone like Rick Riordan, George R. R. Martin, JK Rowling, whatever you want. The idea is NOT a fanfiction OR a replication of their ideas/stories. Simply to write a story that takes some inspiration but is mostly your own. Obviously if your name is listed above, you can’t write a story inspired by yourself, but you can choose someone else. Think of how they would write a concept and write as if you were them.

The Rules:

No plagiarism or blatantly stealing ideas

The story should take inspiration from an author whether it be from a published book, manga writer, erotic author, or other.

All victims used should be 12+

Content Warnings should be applied if appropriate

Titles must be formatted as “<story title> Inspired by <author>“

Keep all of it under one post.

The Deadline:

This’ll be a long one. Let’s say we check in on June 5th. The date may be extended depending on circumstances.

This could be interesting. I don't know if I'll end up entering considering my other big projects coming soon, but maybe I'll end up with a quick idea by June. I'm currently doing a story inspired by Douglas Adams of all people, but that's more of a parody than anything else.

I'm interested in the possibility of people attempting to write in other people's styles, or the ways that certain signature traits and kinks for an author would be portrayed in these inspiration stories.
