In high school, I was a part of many sports teams. Primarily cross country and track. As I understand, other sports have full access to changing rooms and showers, which you can use before and after each practice. With the sports I attended, we were always didn’t have access to these kinds of things. Whenever we went to a cross-country meet, we would set up our tent beside the course in a big open field. This caused the frequent citing of the opposite genders' undergarments as we needed to change into our race uniform. Our couch was big on after a race to get out of our sweaty clothes (especially on colder meets not to get sick) and didn’t consider the length of time people have to take if they want privacy. Luckily for me, no one cared about it despite being around 10-20 fellow teammates of both genders pretty much at all times.
Throughout the years, I got my fair share of seeing my female teammates in their underwear. As well as they got to see me without clothes on.
One fundamental incident happened when I was a junior in high school, and we were finishing up a meeting. This was a meet where we had to set up in a parking garage as there was limited outside space, and with the number of athletes racing, it was the only plausible thing. When we first arrived, there must have been over 300 athletes and couches at the one level we were at. We hung out for a bit and then went on to warm up and do our races. There was a series of races, and we were the one later in the day, so when we finished, we were basically the last few groups in the garage. Probably only 30-40 people, excluding our team. As we got back and started to change, I did my typical thing of changing in the corner of the tent so I could lean on the edge. Still, as I was finishing up changing, I noticed one of my friends, let's call her Bailee for anonymity, was changing behind a cement pillar. She is typically more outgoing than everyone else, so I wondered what was up.
I kept peeking (even though I knew I shouldn't) and noticed she was not only changing her clothes but also her underwear. She was looking away from the tent, back to the pillar, thinking that it covered her from everyone else. Which it did…everyone but me in the corner. As she continued to change, she started to remove her shorts to reveal her panties (that's normal), but then something different happened. I assume that she pushed it extra hard on the race and was uncomfortable with her current arrangement as before she put on some sweat pants, down when the panties revealed her perfect ass. I was pretty much in shock. I never thought I would see what she looked like completely under the fabric, but there it was. Running does help as there was not a wrinkle. Unfortunately, when she changed her shirt, she was facing the opposite way, so I didn't get a view of her breasts (what I would be looking forward to more) as she would go completely commando the rest of the day.
I would continue to see most of my team throughout my time in high school in just their underwear as on hot days everyone would take off their shirts (including girls) and run in just their sports bras.
After meets for skiing we are all wearing one piece suits so the changing is more interesting as we have to get pretty much only down to our underwear without anything else before putting clothes back on. A reminder that we still don’t have changing rooms and the bathrooms are typically porta-potties. Getting to see people in their underwear as well as be the one only in their underwear was helpful for me to overcome my shyness about my body, to understand that everyone pretty much feels the same way but its not a big deal. Its just skin
I would like to know if anyone else experienced something similar in high school? And if so, do they have a more intriguing stories then the ones I have experienced.

Well, I don't think I have any more intriguing stories than that (as pertains to changing for team sports, anyway). I suppose that, as far as you know, Bailee never realized anyone had seen her strip it all off behind the pillar? That would have been an extremely memorable moment for me.
During my own high school running days, we'd either change in our respective school locker rooms, or change at home in the case of weekend meets. So we never had boys and girls changing in a team tent at the same time. (Nor did we have an enclosed team tent in the first place.) It comes as a surprise to me that your team did that, although I understand how a team can become tightly knit and think of that as not a big deal.
There was a time at a big cross country invitational when I accidentally used the girls' bathroom. That was a big "oops" moment for me. It threw me off kilter when a girl walked in at the same time I was walking out, but she didn't react in any really obvious way - her glance suggested nothing more than a curious, "Huh, why was he in the girls' bathroom?"

This tracks with my experience - it was common for teammates to take off their shirts during runs, boys and girls alike. My coach actually got a complaint from someone in town who disapproved of girls running shirtless. It didn't really stop the girls... they just started waiting to take off their shirts until we were away from the busy main roads.MrCloud wrote: Fri Feb 07, 2025 6:45 am I would continue to see most of my team throughout my time in high school in just their underwear as on hot days everyone would take off their shirts (including girls) and run in just their sports bras.

Re: Changing in team sports
My school was very small and rural so there was not many kids on the team (around 20 through the years) so we were all very close together. Everyone was on the same sports teams and clubs so people were very comfortable with each other.
Our meets were on average 2 hours away so we typically changed at home, or for a meet that was more then 4 hours away most changed in the bus where you had seats hiding you except from the few seats across. When I was sitting across from some of the girls on the team, Like Bailee or her twin sister who were the most nonchalant about changing I always saw them in only their underwear. Some other girls took their shirt of hoodie off and changed in the open for their top, but used the shirt to cover their waist to not reveal their panties.
When we were changing back into street clothes out tent did not have walls for privacy or wind coverage except for one where we put up our school banner so I other teams could also get a peak, but as XC meets go we are all spread far apart so its nothing special.
An ENM experience with one freshman on the team who had no sense of modesty pulled his shots and boxers down during a run (willingly) when we were running in the wilderness on multiple occasions. All the girls were running in front of him so only some of the boys got the shock, I wasn't one, but he did this for at least 2 minutes straight. If one of the girls decided to get a peak it was pretty easy while we were rounding a turn, but don't know if any did.
