I'll post it up after I am done editing, but the first few chapters I guess will scare people. I'll live with that. It's puzzling because every other "Hey, these are the rules now" story seems to do okay.
In any case, today I had a breakthrough in AI. I've struggled to get the same two consistent characters in one photo. There are some ways where you "Add Image Control" but I've always struggled with the AI not understanding that one Lora is for one character and another is for another character. It would end up blending them.
A Lora is a persistent character (or perhaps a set of refinements, or a catalog of pictures to help the AI to make specific scenes). I use them primarily for having a consistent main character. As there are very few "normal" people, recreating Mary and Toy was no easy task. The system can approximate them but it won't do a good job as they have no Lora.
My solution to that is to use a celebrity, and then just hope that readers can buy that Sydney Sweeney in my Nude Rules, looks amazingly similar to the real life actress. I am assuming it's an alternate universe. The real Sydney Sweney also learned Russian in Highschool, fixed up old hot rods, went to UCLA, etc, and would have been around the right age for the character in Nude Rules in 2014. I love to seed the story with easter eggs like that.
In any case, naturally this can sometimes be a little jarring to have Scarlett Johansen be the main character's doppleganger. I typically name the character the same name because if i do not, then later I'll invert the name anyway, because to me they are the character name. If they have a well known role, such as Julie from Friday Night Lights, I'll call them Julie.
The reason this is a limitation is few make Lora of "Stacy the girl that lives down the street" and if they did, it's because they are obsessed with her, and it's probably not nice to use that Lora. i am not going to debate whether the relative merits of AI/copyright, but they are based on pictures that are out on the web. So, I stick to the well known.
Today, however I had a breakthrough. This was not easy and I won't explain too much, but how I did it was first create the characters using blank backgrounds. The AI put them in all blue or white rooms, and I put them in a picture together, made sure they were to scale, and cleaned them up a bit.
I had to upscale them, a few times, and then when i was happy I used another tool to change the background and I was able to recreate a scene from the story that until now, would have been one character or the other. This is truly epic for me. I am just getting started with it and spent way too much on this one today.
I've got 4 chapters edited, and 13 more in rough state and more to write. I changed it so EVERYONE gets a happy ending, although Ethan still gets Karma for the shit he pulls. I am just working on the execution of that.
