I was still reeling from the embarrassment of watching the afternoon's events unfold on the big screen as Aditty's recording played. Part Forty-Five

I had been non-committal about returning next door the following day for Sunday roast but woke with the intention of disappearing to the pub as soon as it opened, so that I would not have to actually refuse Alison's invite. However that intention was thwarted by an insistent ringing of the bell just before eleven o'clock. "I've come to collect you" Lexie announced when I opened the door. "But I was just getting ready to go to the pub" I tried to resist. But Lexie had already taken me by the hand and was pulling me out of the door. "Rubbish" she exclaimed. "Mum's already got the leg of lamb in the oven and I helped peeling the potatoes !" She continued to pull my arms while I tried to keep my feet planted.

"Are you alright Lexie ?" came a concerned voice witnessing our struggle. It was Audrey, my more distant neighbour on the other side. "He's being difficult" Lexie explained. "Mum invited him for Sunday lunch but he says he's going to the pub." "That's not very gracious of you Rob" Audrey admonished me. "You're coming with me" Lexie continued, giving me another firm tug forward and causing the door to slam behind me. "I haven't got my key" I complained. "We'll worry about that later. Come on" Lexie insisted as she led me onwards. "I can see who's in charge. Better give in Rob" Audrey laughed. "Tell your mum I may pop round later, I've got some magazines for her" she concluded.

"Come on then, you know the rules. Clothes off" Lexie demanded as soon as we were in the hall. "Not here" I resisted. "What if Audrey's still outside ?" There was a glass panel in Alison's front door and although it was frosted glass, anyone outside would still be able to ascertain that I was undressing. "That's your fault for being difficult." Lexie was unsympathetic. "I'll take care of these" she announced once I was naked, quickly scooping up my clothes and disappearing.

Not wanting to stay there in the hall in case my silhouette was discernible from outside, I headed into the by now familiar lounge, where I was surprised to see another woman sitting there with Alison. "You're right, Lexie has got him well trained" the newcomer laughed. "Rob, this is my sister Barbara" Alison made the introductions. "Denise is spending the day with Aditty and so I invited Babs to join us for lunch."

"Alison's told me all about Lexie's house rules and what you've been getting up to" Barbara added. "And now it's so good to finally see you" she continued, casting her gaze down to my crotch. Lexie emerged from the kitchen and offered me a glass of water. "We don't want you getting dehydrated" she explained. I didn't really see much likelihood of becoming immediately dehydrated but I nevertheless reflexively took the proffered glass and gulped it down.
